Hello to all those who like me enjoy bouncing around blogs and websites and have stumbled upon my little piece of web.
I have come to a bit of a cross roads in both my personal and design life (which are all to often tied together with very little way or want to untangle). I was recently made redundant from my job as a 3d modeler with a brands packaging unit here in West Yorkshire. Human nature often sends you back to what you know when times get a bit hard so I have been exploring the possibilities of a new direction to the designer in me.
I spent a large portion of my final two years at University studying the idea of sustainable education, whether schools here in the UK (and to some extent North America) are doing enough to nurture an air of sustainability with the children of today. Given the radical changes we are seeing to the National Curriculum with the structure I saw of Maths, Science, English, History and so on being transformed wouldn't it be wonderful to see the government reward and encourage more schools to not only teach sustainable ideals but immerse children in a sustainable environment.
I hope to explore more over the next few weeks what I mean by this and some examples of good practice i've seen through my studies and personal blog bouncing.
Back to the matter in hand though, my current thought process has led me back to the possibility of studying again and researching this area in more depth. Of course, life isn't as simple as just saying I want to go back to University so there is plenty still to do before making a final decision.
If there are any of you out there in the blogosphere who happen to have any advice or been through similar thought processes or experiences I would love to hear them and help a rather confused designer point himself in the right direction!
A Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to you all!
