• Visual communication vs Linguistic communication

    Well-being, Industrial Design

In the communication between health providers and patients with low health literacy, a language is an invisible barrier for clear understanding of medical information. As an alternative to linguistic communication, I am thinking of some kind of visual communication aid tools such as illustrations and pictograms to help patient understanding what physicians try to say and clearly explain their symptoms. Those are not necessarily a primary communication tools but can definitely give supplementary visual aid for better understanding.

Here are great examples of that http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr357/mon_shin/illustration.jpg
