So far in my search for NFPs which are also established in New York City i have found:
-1. For Materials + Product design (shoes) - "earthpledge" -
They have a section called "Future-Fashion" which provides guidance to designers, manufacturers and distributors to help them with the transition to sustainable materials and methods. FutureFashion projects inspires and educates about the need for a more sustainable fashion industry, and how to achieve it. working with environmentally conscious mills and textile manufacturers to identify, collect and promote the use of renewable, reusable and non-polluting materials and production methods.
This NFP is relevant through my concept and ideation phase of the suggested solution (type of materials, processes, connection to local industry, etc.)
-2. Concern World Wide US -
This is an affiliate of "Concern Worldwide" that supports the Concern network by recruiting staff, supporting program development, creating public awareness of humanitarian issues and financially supporting programs. Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. NY Office: 104 East 40th Street, Suite 903, New York, NY 10016
This NFP can contribute to my research by relating me to the depth of the problem, connecting me to local African people in designated villages. provide me with guidelines and knowledge from different projects and former experience they have.
-3. OSAA - Office of the Special adviser on Africa for the United Nations-
This Office is also related to "The Africa Renewal information program", produced by the Africa Section of the United Nations Department of Public Information, provides up-to-date information and analysis of the major economic and development challenges facing Africa today (economic reform, debt, education, health, women's advancement, conflict and civil strife, democratization, aid, investment, trade, regional integration, rural development).
