Creative Director of renowned East London based design agency Ochee, Jason Kelly has won one of only 30 places out of almost 3000 entrants in the Human Rights Violation category of the esteemed social communication project organised by 50 x 70 – one of only 2 UK based design agencies. The competition was endorsed by Amnesty International, Greenpeace, UNICEF and The WWF. The core brief of the competition was whether the declaration itself is actually “worth the paper” that it is written on. 60 years after the UN unveiled the Universal declaration of Human Rights almost half of the world’s population experiences severe violations of this declaration on a daily basis. A concept reflected effectively in “The Shredder” – Ochee’s winning entry - http://good50x70.org/2008/gallery/gallery03/ – a powerful image resonating the virtual destruction of the declaration’s socially responsive sentiment.
Founded in 2001 by Jason Kelly, Ochee has become of one East London’s leading design companies. Its philosophy is based around the concept of being socially creative – a concept often overlooked in a fiercely competitive industry. Coming from a commercially driven background; Jason Kelly has worked for some of the most prominent media powerhouses such as GQ, The Saturday Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveller. With this experience under his belt Jason has built up one of London’s most exciting young design agencies. Offering a range of services including branding, advertising, corporate identity, web design, graphic design, photography, print management, illustration, exhibition design – Ochee is a highly sought after creative design agency.
Being socially conscious and commercially aware is no mean feat in a fast paced city like London. Having the tenacity to maintain a successful business whilst still being socially driven is something that Ochee has perfected over the years. A design agency with a reputation for success and quality, Ochee has worked with a huge range of organisations and companies in developing effective brand identities. The high profile NHS campaign in which the black people are encouraged to carry donor cards was directed and designed by Ochee – a huge achievement for this growing design agency. Other major clients include Newham council, The 2012 Olympics Campaign, notable fashion designer Wale Adeyemi and TV Presenter June Sarpong and more recently Asthma UK, which further illustrates the diverse nature of Ochee’s client portfolio.
'We've worked with Ochee on a number of projects now at Asthma UK and they have proved to be a fantastic design agency. In particular they came up with a really strong new 'Spread your wings' identity for all Asthma UK events - this has had really positive feedback both internally and externally. As well as producing really creative design they are also very personable and take the time to really find out what the client wants and produce something everyone is happy with. They are also very flexible and prepared to take on projects at short notice and turn them around amazingly quickly. We look forward to working with Ochee further in the future.' Laura Smith, Communications Manager - Publications & Web, Asthma UK With this type of positive feedback, Ochee is destined for greatness through its own creations.
