    Whether it is the Earth's environment or the living environment, building a LEED certified residence hall can be a great benefit to the New School Student Housing Services. The Student Housing Services has given me the opportunity to live and work along side the ultimate users of my subject, and a vast knowledge of how a residence hall is built.

    My proposal for building a LEED certified residence hall is to aim for a triple bottom line of positive results in Efficiency, Environment and Equity while having the benefits of creating an Educational living experience. My project includes a workbook and interactive website which makes provides informative resources on how to achieve triple bottom line solutions to current problems at the New School residence halls. This project can serve as a bridge builder between my constituents, keeping in mind that a building process should have a holistic research and design process.

    I've been invited to give feedback to all Parsons students, regarding your thesis projects.

    It's commendable that you've acknowledged LEED certified building standards and sustainable-speak, such as "triple bottom line", but the rest of your project description lacks support of this. If you mention these standards you must also back it up by showing how you're designing to meet these standards.

    I like that you've done interviews with fellow students as part of your research methodology, but from what I've seen here, you've limited your examination to only a handful of folks. Also, from hearing their answers, it seems that you've asked them general question about New School residences instead of getting at the root of "building green." Lighting and heating and noise and smell are all very important considerations but you fail to connect this qualitative data to the LEED rating systems and triple-bottom-line methodology.

    Why not introduce to your audience what these are from the get go, and then do your user research, with the goal of finding ways to link your findings to your framework?

    There is an overall disconnect from your wishing to adhere to sustainable standards and the ultimate execution of your project findings. Try to find a way to strengthen the connection.

  • am not one for specifications, but if there is such a thing , and I thought I knew, green concrete should be specified to mean aggregate sources are from recycled chippings and on site stone binders or raw materials taken off secondary sources as demolition sites and recyclable waste grubs and so forth. if this is organised and done there can be opportunities to reduce hacking river beds and mining sand beds to provide the resources for concrete aggregates and rock work admixtures from primary natural sources.

    i remain to be corrected for using this term.
