Lys,
I've been invited to give feedback to all Parsons students, regarding your thesis projects.
Wow, what an interesting idea. You've got a very creative mind and your idea makes me think of those magical doors in library walls of mystery movies...or the secret rooms in the walls I used to imagine as a child.
More seriously, you're tapping into a culturally-relevant issue (sad to say). Gun restriction in the U.S. is the least restrictive in the world, and many argue that the right to own a gun and defend oneself is central to the American identity. You've clearly decided to leverage the reality and help to prevent accidental deaths among kids in the homes of handguns. Your wall storage system is strengthened by the inclusion of educational material.
Where will this be available to consumers? How will this concept be communicated? Is it affordable? Can people install it themselves (IKEA-style)? The easier it is to implement, the more likely it will become popular and positively impactful. Ideally, in time, people will no longer even need this, i.e. its success will bring about its obsolescence. Think about how it can, long-term, be purely educational, 100% immaterial...
Oh yeah, and don't forget to include the state of handgun ownership today in the US and the numbers of in-home accidents/fatalities there are, etc. Paint the picture in full color detail.
Overall, good stuff. Congrats! J.
