Earlier this month, Armin Vit wrote an interesting review of renowned artist and designer Luba Lukova latest poster collection, Social Justice 2008.

Armin Vit: "Social Justice is a very satisfying collectible for any graphic designer. Individually or as a group, these posters are a reminder of how much can be achieved through such economic visual means."

Amazon.com: "Social Justice 2008 is a powerful portfolio that features 12 thought-provoking posters by world-renowned artist and designer Luba Lukova. This collection swiftly and ably showcases Lukova's masterful use of metaphors and symbols to express themes that include peace, war, ecology, immigration, and privacy. Her distinctive style and vigorous visual imagination distill issues such as these into deceptively simple, yet formidably brilliant images, images that not only transfix, but that have the power to become indelible."

  • Thanks for the link. I'm a big fan of Lukova's work - so much so that I'm still trying to that 'project' so I can commission her. However, although I champion any publication of her work (as there is so little in circulation), I was very disappointed with this collection - it's not a match on her earlier work which seemed to have more of an edge, visually and concept-wise. I remember her 'Sudan' poster which still remains an incredibly powerful example bearing in mind that 'it's' sdtill going on down there.

Thanks also for your other valid posts - enlightening stuff - good to see that you picked up on what Anna Gerber and her collegues are doing up there at The London Institute.
