City Planner and Designer
Member since May 18, 2011
I started out as a civil engineer and always felt that the designs I had to work with were of a lower design quality than they could have been. Discovering that the standards were often a result of government regulations, I studied Town Planning and then Environmental Law to better understand why this was so. It eventually became clear that political decisions that guide the designs of our cities, were essentially based on economic self-interest rather than the collective good.
I have therefore become a writer, the most free of all designers, and my website includes a series of papers that invite readers to appreciate some of the principles upon which our cities are built and try for something better. How can we design better, rather than bigger cities?
