As a speculative fiction writer, I have spent a fair amount of time envisioning what the future will be like. Taking into account the possible impact of climate change opens up new possibilities. At this point in the game I have to question how much we really understand about the long term effects of climate change on our planet. It's possible that there will be ramifications that we haven't even imagined. The value of contests such as this is that it may get us thinking in new directions.
