Design 21: Social Design Network

Anab Jain is an interaction designer, researcher and filmmaker with a MA in Interaction Design from the Royal College of Art, and first degrees in Communication Design from the National Institute of Design, India and Academy of Fine Art, Vienna.

Anab has a keen interest in creating engaging experiences and visualising future scenarios around emerging technologies. People become the 'context' for her work, whether it is the design of services, products or interfaces. She is interested in people not only as users, but also as collaborators, participants, protagonists and even victims.

Anab’s work has received international awards including the ‘UNESCO Digital Arts Award’, ‘Design for our Future Selves Award’ Royal College of Art, ‘Innovation Award’, Chicago International Documentary Festival and Award of Excellence, DuPont Inc., Toronto.

She has been invited to present her work in several conferences such as Ubicomp, Tokyo, ISEA Zero One Festival, San Jose, USA, and to design summits at Mattel Toys Headquarters, Los Angeles, Apple Computers Inc., Cupertino, Intel Research, Berkeley and the Tate Modern, London.

She is currently exploring emerging notions of ‘intelligence’ and ‘smart technologies’ at Microsoft Research, Cambridge.
