Andrea Flamini is an Italian-born, U.S.-based designer and filmmaker.

Since 1995, Andrea has designed a large number of user interfaces for a variety of clients and platforms —from software and Web applications to consumer devices and mobile apps. Prior to opening his own consultancy in 2001, he was VP of Creative and Product design at PictureIQ Corporation, an Adobe-funded start-up specializing in digital imaging applications, where he served until Kodak purchased the company. Previously, Andrea was a manager at the branding firm Landor & Associates in Seattle and a lead interaction designer at TDO Communications in New York.

Andrea’s design work has been published in several publications, including New Vision magazine (Asia Pacific), and in books on interface design published by Rockport Publishers. He is the author of several UI design patents. Flamini + Associates specializes in User Experience Design from strategic analysis to product release, working in partnership with design firms and clients in New York, the San Francisco Bay Area and Europe.

Filmmaking
Andrea’s work as an experimental filmmaker has been shown internationally in such venues as the Hong Kong Film Archive in Hong Kong, Cinema L' Entrepot in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, and the Knitting Factory in New York. A retrospective of his videos was held in 2008 at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila in Rome as part of the 1st Italian Experimental Cinema Festival.

From 2003 to 2008, Andrea was an Assistant Professor in the Digital Filmmaking Department at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he taught courses in film theory, digital filmmaking and digital photography practices. His work on database narratives has been published by the Labyrinth Research Initiative on Interactive Narrative at the Annenberg Center for Communication of the University of Southern California and has been reviewed in several publications such as RES magazine, and New Digital Cinema: Reinventing the Moving Image - Short Cuts, Film Studies series, by Holly Willis for Wallflower Press.
