ART from the ashes (AFTA) will present INSPIRE, the organization’s fourth fund raising exhibition. While past events have featured art that has been 100% donated by AFTA’s talented collective of artists, INSPIRE intends to give back to the artists by sharing the majority of the proceeds from the sale of art with them. INSPIRE will also raise funds for the organization in order to help continue its efforts to support communities affected by wildfire.

INSPIRE will feature 45 artists, all of which have participated in past ART from the ashes exhibitions, and over 100 works of art. Works featured in the show will include an AFTA inspired piece, created from reclaimed fire site materials, as well as additional works from each artist. ART from the ashes wishes to honor these artists and profile their creative spectrum.

The new gallery is prepped and over 120 pieces of art, donated by 62 artists, are in the process of being installed at 216 S. Brand Blvd, in the heart of Glendale… and on June 19, the ART from the ashes Exhibition will open its doors to the public.

The works created for this show are rooted in sustainability and renewal. Each piece of art incorporates salvaged materials gathered from Deukmejian Wilderness Park, devastated as a result of the Station Fire. From the transformation of materials reclaimed from a site destroyed by fire, to the restoration of a wilderness park, to the commitment of a city to strengthen its ties to the arts by supporting the ART from the ashes Exhibition… it’s clear that this a multifaceted event with a big heart.

The work in the show spans a wide spectrum of mediums. For the first time the exhibition will showcase art in the form of a stop-motion short film and will have its first piece of wearable art in the form of a bespoke, one-of-a-kind dress.

Developed in partnership with the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation, the exhibition will raise funds to support the restoration of Deukmejian Wilderness Park. The City of Glendale has enthusiastically embraced this opportunity to support the arts by showcasing art created from its own soil.

Opening Reception: Saturday June 19, 2010 from 5-9pm. Suggested donation $20. Exhibition continues through July 24th with special event programming throughout Gallery open Tues-Sunday 12-6pm

ART from the ashes and the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation are pleased to announce June 19th as the grand opening of the exhibition to benefit the rehabilitation of Deukmejian Wilderness Park. The exhibition will take place at the planned future home of the Museum of Neon Art on South Brand Boulevard in Glendale and it will run through July 24th.

An impressive collective of over 40 artists will create one-of-a-kind works of art from debris gathered from the Park after the devastating Station Fire of August 2009. From these raw bits of metal and organic remnants of ash and wood; scrap metal becomes jewelry or sculpture, wood becomes a canvas for painting and ash creates glaze for ceramics.

Exhibition opening: June 19, 2010 from 5-9pm. Continues through July 24th. Gallery open Tues-Sunday 12-6pm
