    At the Edge of the City: Reinhabiting Public Space toward the Recovery of Beirut's Horsh Al-Sanawbar

    Abstract At the Edge of the City is a contemporary critique of urban governance and spatial production in Beirut. The undertaking is advocating in scope, multidisciplinary in approach, and journalistic in style. The book is an edited volume on public space in Beirut, focused on the case of Beirut’s park Horsh Al-Sanawbar, hosting the original textual and visual works of over 25 scholars, professionals, journalists, activists, and artists. The book is supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung (Middle East Office) and published by the professional initiative DISCURSIVE FORMATIONS.

    Advocacy Within the political and advocacy spirit of At the Edge of the City, copies of the book will be donated to Assabil’s Beirut Municipal Public Libraries (Bachoura, Geitawi, Monnot, and Kotobus) and to the university libraries of the American University of Beirut, (ALBA) Balamand University, Beirut Arab University, Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanese American University, Lebanese University, Notre Dame University, and Saint Joseph University. Copies of the book will also be presented to the Lebanese Ministry of Interior and Municipalities (MoIM), the Municipality of Beirut (MoB), the Directorate General of Urbanism (DGU), and the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR). The Heinrich Böll Stiftung (Middle East Office) will distribute 200 copies of the book, and DISCURSIVE FORMAT...
