Jason Dauphinee is an Art Director, graphic designer and creative consultant with a reputation for innovation, efficiency and an original creative flare.
Born in Ottawa in 1972, Jason Dauphinee spent his childhood living and visiting various Canadian and European cities. Even at an early age, the experience instilled in him an intense interest and fascination for the forms and function of art, design and visual communications. In 1991, Jason enrolled in the arts program at the University of Ottawa were he excelled in his studies of fine art, philosophy, psychology as well as math and science.
Jason´s first working experience in art and design came as an artist and apprentice in sign shops were he gained and refined his skills in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from free-hand painting, gold leaf, screen printing and display design. It was during this time that he was introduced to digital graphic design, new media and web development.
In 1992, Jason moved to Victoria , British Columbia were he worked as a freelance designer and illustrator. His clientele ranged from local small business, corporate private sector and the provincial government. It was during this time that Jason started and ran a successful local sign company as well as designing, producing and publishing a full-colour lifestyles magazine.
Between 2001 and 2007, Jason was employed by Malahat Group International as an Art Director were he sharpened his creative edge working on local and national (US & Canada) ad campaigns and design projects for client such as BC Ferries, BC Market Outreach, CUNA (U.S.), Forestry Innovations, Money Mart (U.S.), Red Cross, Redwood Credit Union (U.S.), Saanich Peninsula Hospital, United Way, University of Victoria and The Vancouver Foundation. During this time, Jason became a professional member of the Graphic Designers of Canada, serving on the Executive Council as the Vancouver Island Representative between 2002 and 2003.
Starting in July of 2007, Jason was hired on as Senior Art Director by DDB Canada. He now heads up the creative department of the new Victoria, BC office.
Over the past few years, Jason has received several design awards, including Summit and Lotus Awards and his work has been featured in Applied Arts Magazine.
