Watch, Talk, and Walk For Human Rights and The Sari Soldiers on NTV

A national human rights education project is taking place as part of International Human Rights Day, December 10, called Watch, Talk, and Walk For Human Rights - December 8, 9, 10.

In a first of its kind television educational event, and in cooperation with Human Rights Film Focus Nepal, Nepal Television will broadcast the Sari Soldiers - a powerful and moving documentary film - on December 8, 2012. The film documents the story of six women during a three-year period in the recent insurgency in Nepal.

Schools across Nepal are being invited to assign their 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to watch the film on December 8, at 2:30 pm, on Nepal Television and to watch a half-hour panel discussion which will immediately follow. Participating schools will have facilitation guides to work with on December 9 or 10 to follow up with classroom discussions. Schools will also be provided access to other human rights curriculum materials to work with on those days, throughout the week, and beyond.

Kathmandu students can participate in a March for Human Rights on December 10. Students and schools out of the valley can organize a march in their own community.
