Final mid-review Boards & Feedbacks from critics
Environment, Environmental Design
Mission: My goal is to raise public awareness on Colony Collapse Disorder through an informational packaged product, inspiring the user to engage in on this issue and take action to help honeybees.
From this mid-review, I got chance to talk with critics who know about CCD issue, and others who don’t know. However, feedbacks from both of parties were helpful and valuable.
Suggestions from critics: -Get statistics (#) about how many honeybee colonies I can help with my product. -Show amounts of money/ funds ($) that will go to researchers. -Clarify the product (Think about series, and varieties) -Show on the package what is inside of the box. -Think about stores where my product will be displayed. -Show videos about the issue at final presentation. -Send e-mails about the product to big companies, for example Burt’s Bees.

1st user testing+survey feedback
Communication, Communication Design
I asked random people to pick more attractive package in terms of design and gave them a survey on their choice. Over 70% preferred the bright yellow package because of the color. Over 90% understood the information on the package. 75% said they would like to find out more about CCD after reading the information. I also asked possible candidate products they wanted to see in the box and 40% preferred beeswax, 20% honey, 20% an everyday object, 15% seeds, and 5% suggested new ideas, such as air freshener. 1st prototypes+mechanical drawings
Communication, Communication Design
I concentrated on developing the packaging design first because I thought that the package of my potential product plays important role in my thesis. Shape of box and graphic design on the box are not only mechanisms to attract consumers but also they convey important information through design to the users. Larger view

1st User Testing Plan
Communication, Environmental Design
Who will be the users for your first test? The users for my first test will be the random public because they are the immediate users for my potential product.
What criteria will you use to select the individuals who will test your prototype? The individuals who will test my prototype will be selected randomly in public spaces and online. I am looking for their reaction to my package boxes’ shape and graphic designs on them.
What type of environment will you test them in? The environment I chose is public area such as Union square or Washington square, where many pedestrians walk around during most time of the day. As they are people coming from different backgrounds of culture, age, or interest, I am expecting to get various point of view and critique on my initial prototypes.
