I up-loaded my first user testing on my other blog since youtube is too broad and potentially touches tester's privacy. The blog I up-loaded is isolated so only members of this thesis projects can view them.

Continued from previous post) However, at the scene of knitting, she had a difficulty after she through the yarn zigzag, even though she started to work very smoothly. I immediately realized that while they are knitting, they could not do two things that reading the instruction and knitting at the same time. This is maybe because I was there and had a conversation, or maybe not. In fact, there was another problem that she mistook at knitting process and she tried keep working, but she had a difficulty later because of that. At this point, I should note that they could go back to fix the problem and keep going after that in the instruction. User testing gave me very important feedback and study. There must be unexpected things from users. I will develop my prototypes and go to the next testing.

I had first user testing in real environment on 2/20 at senior center on 96th in upper west side of Manhattan. First of all, thank you Leah Waldman and her grandma for user testing. I tested one type of my prototypes and hand them with an instruction book. I couldn't imagine how they love to do an activity, and she was fully interested in it. She told me the real situation in the senior center that many people who live in there are almost doing nothing during daytime. At this point my project could fit into their daily life cycle. For the instruction book, presenting in a book format was correct, and she could understand and had a motivation to knit with her partner. Here is pre-user testing. I am testing many templates which are similar looking, but each template has different distance between fingers on template.

This testing is showing very smooth collaborative sequence with longer length so that users can knit wider pieces.
