  • A New Bike in town...or should it be New wheel?

    Environment, Industrial Design

    Photo-bike_282_

The company RevoPower is producing bicycle wheel that has a 12 pound motor to replace your traditional front bike wheel. This wheel will gives you 20mph over flat terrain while fuel consumption is over 100 miles per gallon. It uses a 25cc two-stroke engine driven by a series of sprockets and chains that gives you 1 HP at 7000 RPM.

It claims that the emissions is extremely low and meets EPA and CARB regulations.

The company hopes the bike will not only provide recreational use but also gives people another option other than pedicab and motorcycle.

This is a video presetation of the company product RevoPower Marketing Presentation

steve, How hard would it be to add a battery and an electric motor, so that when you go downhill, the motor could run in reverse, and act as a generator to charge the battery? At what point would all of this equipment begin to weigh down the bike, resulting in lower efficiency, higher complexity and cost? How does this example help you to understand the problems that you are addressing in your thesis project? steven
