community artist
Member since February 21, 2008
firstly i am a mother of 5 children, one whom is terminally ill, that is my life.not so easy. i am a self-employed community artist. i was unceromoniously asked to leave school at age 14 for being'uncontrollable?!'[they even gave me a 'special exemption' certificate so that i could legally work underage] i was always good at art and my dream was/is to see art in the public place,by anyone and everyone. the 'arts for health research centre'[HARC} saw my talent on a wall/building somewhere and organised to have me trained in mosaic and community art.i have since been self-employed and now choose to work with disadvantaged communities/schools [majority aboriginal]etc in inner city sydney.together we design and produce art for public space.recently i have trained a local aboriginal artist and an ex long-term prison inmate in mosaic and community art.even though it is hard work sometimes,i go to sleep feeling allright.
