I work on forest habitat mapping in Oklahoma. My vital driving question is this: How can I help enable restorative environmental design here in the often-overlooked middle of the United States? As a geographer, I believe that place matters. As a designer, I believe that inviting people to the table, listening deeply to what they most want, and drawing out their contributions so they may be part of the solution matters. And as a person who grew up Oklahoma, then left, and then returned, I feel responsible to this place while wanting to remain connected to ideas and social design solutions from everywhere.
