Amal qualified with distinctions as a graphic designer in 1985 from Cambourne School of Art and Design, England. Having acquired extensive experience in graphic design in London with King & Associates and working with international clients including Del Monte, Body Shop , British Caledonian and Boots, Amal moved to Northern Ireland and was appointed as Head of Design at Creative Image Advertising. He progressed to become Chief Executive of Paper Plane Design Consultants prior to establishing Rocket Design Partnership in 1992.
As the Managing/Creative Director of Rocket, he guided and nurtured the company which was regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s leading design consultancies by both clients and the industry alike. Clients included Northern Bank (largest financial institution in Ireland), National Trust, Thompsons Feed (largest manufacturers of animal feed in UK), SHS Group, BDO, Coopers and Lybrand, UTV (National TV station).
Amal was awarded a fellowship from the internationally recognised Chartered Society of Designers in 1996 and has been the only Graphic designer in Northern Ireland to hold this accreditation and he is one of a handful of people to hold this honor in South Africa. He is also a member of South African Association of Professional Designers.
With over 20 years experience in marketing, design and public relation work in Europe, Amal brings a wealth of experience into One Circle International. With insight and knowledge of the fast paced and evolving design industry and investment in staff and cutting edge technology, One Circle has an impressive client list. Working on ongoing projects with UK clients including SHS group, Farmlea Foods, Mullins Ice cream and here in South Africa, One Circle designed and launched the NCOP (Parliament) corporate identity and website. Other clients include Safmarine, Eden Municipality, Pan-African Group, Eden Tourism and Purple Plum Properties. From its base in Pietermaritzburg One Circle has also been working with local companies and organisations such as Ghela Outfitters, Moffatt Optical, Cordwalles and Epworth Schools amongst others.

Amal’s design entry for the South African Parliament’s new emblem embraces this concept fully. He was one of the finalists working with the Parliament on the proposed emblem that was launched in March 2007.
Amal is a recording artist and founded the musical group Zarb.
‘Zarb’ is inspired by the exotic sights and sounds of Middle Eastern countries and combines it with a strong spiritual Celtic rhythm, using the traditional drumming of these cultures. It has created an unique opportunity to widen ‘World Music’ horizons!
Amal is also an internationally renowned artist. His work forms part of private collections throughout the world including the United Nations’ building as well as the Northern Bank, Mount Charles Group and British Telecom amongst many corporate and personal clients. Amal’s style of work is ever changing and his work shows an emotive interpretation of light, water and landscape. Using vivid colours Amal draws from within his spiritual aspirations to show the natural balance of nature.
