Engineering and business development professional with over 20 years experience in product design, strategic planning, and production of engineered products and solutions. Former Vice President of Business Development for EnerDel, Inc. – a lithium battery joint venture with Delphi Corporation. Planned, completed the joint venture and was responsible for developing new markets, commercial sales, strategic partnerships, and state and federal lobbying efforts.
Former Manager of Product Engineering ay Delphi Corporation (2001–2004) and launched a new lithium battery business for Delphi. Led new business strategy, acquired property and funding, and built a world-class manufacturing facility. Also responsible for the design, building, testing, and production of multiple lithium battery products including the Segway® Human Transporter and the iBOT® medical device. Led the design, analysis and advanced manufacturing of advanced energy storage system products for use in hybrid-electric automotive applications and developed partnerships with GM and Ford and initiated hybrid vehicle demonstration programs; developed relationships with Toyota, Nissan, and Sanyo Battery to pursue alternative energy solutions, and partnered with AeroVironment to implement a lithium polymer battery pack in s 14/42-volt Renault Scenic demonstration vehicle.
Led numerous projects, including the development and production of the battery pack system for General Motors' first electric vehicle and subsequent electric vehicles (i.e., GM’s EV1, and the Electric S-10). Invention of the EV1 structural battery tray was recognized by the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) as the automotive design “Grand Award for 1997”. Awarded four U.S. patents, two international patents, hold two defensive papers in battery pack designs, and received numerous industry awards. Graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a member Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honorary Society.
