  • Question

    Communication

Can someone please explain me what happened to main prize of SFTF design contest? Official announcement says Media Communications Association International, New York Chapter picked different designs than one selected by jury.

Even if that is so, why isn't list of those selected designs published and further more, if main prize wasn't to be paid by Media Communications Association International, New York Chapter than how can organizers of contest add that sum to their next contest if they're not going to cooperate with Media Communications Association International, New York Chapter anymore?

I think that I speak in the name of all entrants when I say:

    1. I want to see list of designs picked by Media Communications Association International, New York Chapter

    2. I want to know who was supposed to pay those 5000$ to winner.

    3. If organizers were supposed to pay that sum than what prevents them from doing so?

    4. If organizers can add that sum as they claim to next competition than why can't they pay it to design that was selected by their jury.

Perhaps not all entrants are aware of it but main prize was publicly and officially promised and therefore not fulfilling promise from design contest regulations is a criminal offense! I'm not sure whose to blame but I sure do hope some of the entrants know some good lawyer who will bring this farce out to light for the sake of justice. Any internal misunderstandings and conflicts between parties involved in organization of contest are not valid excuse that winner of contest goes unrewarded.

Least but not last - this is so shameful. UN contest being drawn to dirt just as if it is some banana republic beauty contest.

  • I second the suggestion that the choices of MCA-I be shown (if possible)-- after all, it is the reason why a prize was denied.

Well, I second it for that reason and out of artistic curiosity. I was browsing the logos and, very nice, there are REALLY good ones! Some which made the cut and some which surprisingly didn't. It'd be interesting to see what MCA-I had their eyes on.

The outcome of this competition is regretful, but, I suppose, understandable. In the long run all parties must be satisfied (D21- integrity, Media Comm- choice of logo). This will just make room for better competition mechanics in the future hopefully.

It is confusing though how the prize amount is apparently available (as it will be added to a future competition's purse) yet unawarded-- why not award it now, at least it is for a relevant winner, and MCA-I can opt not to use the logo? This way MCA-I can pursue their own choice in good faith....

    Anyway, just my two cents.
