Mike Reynolds has talked the talk and his Earthships have walked the walk. He and his sustainable biotecture have stood up to all forces, from natural to establishment driven. Reynolds has been working hard on his designs for over 25 years and only recently gotten the acknowledgement by the architectural community, and government permit offices. He is a visionary with a very realist perspective for design and one that many more people should be exposed to.

    Green Design Definition:

"Green is bigger than a thing, it's everything!"

If we look at Design as the introduction of a variable into an ecosystem, then we can define "Green Design" as the act of introducing a well-designed variable, into an ecosystem, that sustain-ably accounts for the resources used to create the variable, the resources used during the lifetime of the variable, and the resources needed to dispose or recycle the variable at the end of its life-cycle.

Greetings, My name is David Hedden and I have entered a design concept into the Heated Issue design contest. Your article has similar thinking to how I developed my concept. Here's the brief: This is a "choose your own adventure" approach to creating an awareness campaign aimed at educating the public on the issue of Global Warming. I've created a booklet that is free to download at DoItYourselfAwareness.org (under construction) and provides a simple step-by-step format to creating your own customized awareness campaign. It is as simple as filling out a multiple choice test where there are no wrong answers. When the booklet is filled out, you have a checklist of the steps you need to take to accomplish your goal. After your campaign, you are encouraged to upload stories, videos, and photos of your campaign to inspire others to create their own. One person can inspire a change, but by giving everyone the ability to inspire change can have a much more significant impact. Thanks for your great article and please vote for Do It Yourself Awareness. -David Hedden
