History
We started out as an angel network, at a time when the term “angel” had yet to be bandied about. During the 1990s, we became one of the largest angel groups in the country, expanding to incorporate many constituents and services that make IC more than just an angel network.
At our core are the wonderful individual stories, woven throughout the fabric of this undertaking: nurturing one of the nation's leading producers of organic cotton; linking a small venture fund in Vermont with a community development venture fund in Philadelphia; financing breakthrough hearing aid technology; helping the nation's leading importer of organic cocoa secure a program-related investment from a major foundation everything from stewarding a grain storage company in Africa, to providing non-traditional financing for a Vermont diner that sources food locally, to taking the management reins of a developer of submersible turbines.
