We aim to initiate the development of a completely sustainable forestry sector that could better the livelihood of involved people while contributing positively to the long-term economic state of the respective nations. Through continuous monitoring, especially in the timber industry, and training of forest monitoring enforcement agents, Crown Capital Eco Management aspires to build an open dialogue with involved parties.

Our group utilizes publicly available satellite data in generating updated digital maps of forest clearings and greenhouse gas emissions, all of which provide helpful data for forest conservation authorities.

Benefits and potential impacts of biomass

Here are examples of benefits and impacts to the community from using biomass. There is also information on the environmental benefits and impacts. Community benefits Impacts on the community of using biomass Environmental benefits Impacts on the environment of using biomass

    Community benefits

Biomass can be taken from many sources in the UK indefinitely and, where well managed, contribute to security of energy supply. If used in an anaerobic digestion plant, it is eligible for Feed-in Tariffs (FITs). UK sourced biomass and processing can create local business, job opportunities and support the rural economy. By using biomass for energy generation, it doesn't go to landfill and therefore avoids the landfill tax. In comparison with other renewable energy technologies, woodlands, forestry and agriculture are generally perceived to be an environmentally and socially attractive amenity. They provide opportunities for recreation and leisure activities. Impacts on the community of using biomass Growth of energy crops could potentially compete for land with food cropping as demand for biomass increases. Biomass users may be locked in long-term supply contracts with a single supplier making it difficult to get competitive pricing in the future. Other impacts are similar to those covered in the District Heating and Combined Heat and Power pages. Environmental benefits Establishing local producti...

Alaska, heavily forested, built on rock and surrounded by water, every commodity that enters the country arrives by air and sea. The use of oil is a struggle for both the economy and the environment. Oil must come from elsewhere and be transported but of course by additional fuel, fuel that is subject to oil price stability.

A site that could help giving a solution to the problem is the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center in Ketchikan. The site that provides information to more than a million visitors each year is also the site where a pilot biomass system is now coming to life. A two oil-fired boilers serving the 250,000-sq-ft center were replaced with a highly efficient system fueled by local wood was manufactured by Hurst Boiler & welding Company Inc. Another good thing about the project is that the hot-water boiler was custom-designed to fit within very limited indoor space.

To address concerns towards issues related to building space, fuel costs, comfort, reliability, simplicity of operation more especially environmental concerns, the biomass boiler system was developed by Hurst representative Gregory W. Smith of Global Energy Solutions Inc. under the direction of E. Dane Ash, project manager for Tyonek-Alcan Pacific LLC.

The excessive use of fossil fuels has been long a problem in any point of the world more especially to Alaska, the boiler system was intended to highlight how biomass can reduce or eliminate the use of fossil fuels. The Hurst S100 Series Fire Tube ...

Crown Capital Eco Management: Global warming: if only we'd listened to the experts, eh? - Telegraph Blogs

Sir John Beddington, the government's retiring Chief Scientist has been doing the media rounds today, telling anyone who'll listen how "Climate Change" is still a serious problem about which we should all worry greatly. Has he looked out of the window recently? Looking out of my window just now, I noticed that the Northamptonshire landscape was completely blanketed in Dr David Viner. Just like it was yesterday. And the day before that, when we rescued two orphaned lambs from the frozen fields. Which isn't something you normally expect in March, is it? I'm sure I know what Beddington would say in reply to this. "Weather is not climate." No, indeed. But it's an argument which would surely carry a lot more weight if Beddington and his alarmist brethren hadn't spent most of the Nineties and Noughties citing the hot summers and mild winters as evidence of man-made global warming. Later, as we know, they amended their scare-phrase to the more inclusive "climate change". Then, growing more desperate as global mean temperatures stubbornly refused to rise with the alacrity their dodgy computer models predicted they would, they even had a stab at popularising "global climate disruption" and "global weirding". Had these caught on (which they didn't, really) it would have been a brilliant coup because what it would have meant is that...

http://blogs.rediff.com/mylespr/2013/04/17/natural-awareness-campaign-crown-capital-eco-management-why-fibres-of-the-future/ Crown Eco Jakarta Capital Management Stringent environmental legislation and consumer awareness are driving the transition to a bio-based economy and models of sustainable development which offer high perspectives for natural fibre markets. Moving to a bio-based economy requires substitution of many common raw materials that are currently largely produced from fossil (petrochemical) or mineral resources, with products produced from renewable (plant and animal based) resources. Substitute to synthetics Natural fibres are increasingly being recognized as a favorable substitute to synthetics which use unsustainable inputs. Aside from technical and cost advantages, such products have the added attraction of meeting growing consumer awareness with respect to environmental, sustainability and social standards contributing to: • Encouraging the growth of sustainable agriculture • Uptake of environmentally friendly production and processing technologies • Fostering economic development • Strengthening the participation of smallholders in the value chain The hard fibres: Acaba, Coir and Sisal, and bast fibres: Jute and Kenaf, are all natural fibres which have various and multiple end uses. Their versatility and environmentally friendly characteristics are strong advantages over synthetic alternatives. Each of the fibres has their particular strengths but al...

Author: Hanlie Liebenberg Enslin on behalf of National Association for Clean Air (NACA )Public awareness around air pollution has increased dramatically over the past decade. For many years, air quality management remained on the back burner of environmental policies, mainly because air pollution is not always visible and not restricted by geographical boundaries. In most instances it is not easy to trace the source of pollution, and especially so for air pollution.

Air pollution is a product of both natural and manmade activities. The latter derives from industrial operations, transportation, household fuel burning, waste treatment, mining and agriculture. Natural sources of air pollution include wild fires (although sometimes started by humans), wind-blown dust, sea spray, pollen and ash (and other pollutants) from volcanic eruptions. Once emitted into the air, pollutants are transported and dispersed over space and time, directed by wind speed and wind direction. Other weather conditions also influence the way pollution is dispersed and removed from the air. Temperature influences the rise of pollution plumes whereas rainfall will wash the pollution out. All these factors play a part in transporting and diluting pollutants. Our main concern with air pollution is the amount of pollution that eventually reaches ground level, where it is then inhaled by humans.

Various respiratory and other health problems are associated with the inhalation of polluted air. These pollutant...

Ramadhan Pohan, the deputy chairman of House Commission I that oversees defense issues, questioned the validity of results from a recent survey conducted by watchdog Transparency International UK. In the survey, whose results were announced earlier this week, Indonesia was given an E, one step above the lowest score, in the Government Defense Anti-Corruption Index. The score meant that Indonesia is considered to be at “very high risk” of corruption. Ramadhan said that the results of the survey were baseless. “Who does it involve, where is the evidence? If one accuses without providing the evidence, that is tyrannical,” said Ramadhan, a lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Party.

He said that if there were any violation, he would not hinder any legal process. But he added that law enforcement could not be based on opinion and perception. “There should be at least two [forms of] evidence, and it is then eligible for it to start a legal process,” said Ramadhan, who is also deputy secretary general of the Democratic Party. Indonesia was given the same rank as Afghanistan, Iraq, Uganda, Zimbabwe and the Philippines. Among those countries ranking even lower were Libya, Egypt and Cameroon. Only two of the 82 countries surveyed had the top A grade — Germany and Australia.

Britain-based Transparency International said in its report that the Indonesian defense sector is dominated by cartels of political parties through lawmakers sitting in House Commission I. The Indo...
