Does this design reflect a(n)...
• well developed and easily understood concept?
This proposal generated an ambivalent reaction with me. The core concept of this solution is valid but it is firstly compromised by the execution – the profile of a human face is badly drawn which distracted me so much that I battled to interpret the other visual codes effectively.
Furthermore, the use of sophisticated information design/way finding graphics of urban mass transportation systems which are mainly found only in highly developed first world countries as a visual metaphor to communicate the message was problematic for me because it confused the message to focus on the beneficiary end rather than the source of the problem.
The central concept might be relevant but the execution blurs the messages.
• level of social engagement?
I remain ambivalent yet cannot pinpoint the reasons.
• understanding of the issues reflected in the poster?
I continue to remain ambivalent. I suspect that the reason could be the use of the stark/clinical information design/way finding graphics which does not address the complex and sensitive human factors that the issue requires.
• sense of internationalism and accessibility?
I remain ambivalent. Maybe a more powerful graphic statement would have been to use global flight and freight transportation maps which are more inclusive of the realities of the issue at hand.
