Held during National Wildflower Week, an initiative started by Lady Bird Johnson, the week’s events will promote the understanding and protection of the thousands of city’s wild trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses by engaging New Yorkers in an inspired week of environmental learning.

Hosted by one of the world’s most preeminent Botanical Society’s: The Torrey Botanical Society is the oldest botanical society in the Americas. It promotes the exploration and study of plant life, with particular focus on the flora of the New York City metro area. For more information:

Activities featuring world-renowned speakers, city-wide contests and events and an invitation-only Wildflower reception hosted by Torrey Botanical Society.

Poised to be one of the largest grassroots environmental events in New York City...Over thirty New York City environmental and government organizations have already confirmed their participation – dozens more are expected to be part of the week’s events.
