Design 21: Social Design Network

The Sustainable Business Network of NYC is an exciting initiative of the Center for the Urban Environment and the NYC chapter of the national organization BALLE (Business Alliances for Local Living Communities). It is founded on the idea that in order to have a healthy and sustainable city, we must support a local living economy.

SBN’s members are locally owned and operated businesses with a commitment to the communities that they operate in and serve. They are entrepreneurs and business leaders who have dedicated their lives to creating innovative solutions that result in lasting improvements to local and global communities. Their interests lie in such fields as renewable energy, independent retail, green construction & design, sustainable agriculture, community-based capital, and independent media, to name a few.
