A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) levels the playing field for disabled children in developing countries by transforming the lives of disabled children through the use of corrective surgery and the provision of prosthetic limbs. By leveling the playing field for these children, we seek to give them access to education, work and community opportunities - the tools they need to make a better future for themselves.

To increase the likelihood for success, ALTSO enlists community involvement through partnerships. Our partnerships require local communities to meet us halfway - matching our contributions with a significant portion of the overall expenditure of establishing clinics and providing orthopaedic services. This match is made through the donation of clinic space, materials, independent fundraising, and most importantly, by the donation of the time of local medical professionals, such as Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthotists, and Physical Therapists. Our partnerships promote self-sufficiency and continuity on a local level, and allow our cash donations to go further, so that we can help more communities globally.
