The sole purpose of the William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc. and the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund is to raise money for breast cancer research and to aid current breast cancer patients. The organization was formed April 22, 2004 and to date has raised over one million dollars.
Our present activities are focused solely around the sale of raffle tickets and the appeal for monetary donations to raise funds. To date, all such activities have been supported entirely by volunteer activity and minimal expense has been paid for supplies and raffle permits. Our operating costs are only 20%- the rest is used exclusively toward the program.
All raffle prizes have been donated. One hundred percent of our time has been devoted to ticket, sales as well as securing monetary donations.
Some real estate agents affiliated with William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance are or will be voluntarily selling tickets and securing donations.
The organization expects funds raised to be given to the following charities or organizations, all of which have provided us with their 501 (C) 3 documentation and copies of their IRS exemption letter.
The University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, CT, in support of the William Raveis ACS Patient Navigator Program (established in 2008 with a $750,000 pledge from the William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc.)
The Patient Navigator Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA (a pledge of over $100,000 was given by the William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc. in 2007).
We have committed to the above organizations to raise money for breast cancer research, treatment and support of victims of this disease and their families for a period of five years. Depending on funds raised, we may add beneficiaries and smaller, local 501 (c) 3 organizations that need support in helping patients and patient’s family members. Any such organization will be required to provide a copy of their exemption letter from the IRS prior to receiving funds.
In the future, we may choose a different avenue to raise money, keeping in mind the most economical and beneficial means.
