CUTTING OFF THE ROPE

by Ahmed Hassan Abayazeed
Co-authors:

A black film strip is used in the background of the logo. We use it as if it is a cinema screen where a man drawn in a simple rough sketch holding scissors in his left hand and scratching his head with his right hand indicative of thinking - How to save the man fettered with a rope standing out of the screen?

VALUES BEHIND THE DESIGN

The black film strip used in the background symbolizes the cinema field. The man with scissors on the screen symbolizes the documentary film. He intends to cut off the rope (make a spot light on our problems to be solved) and scratching his head in a way as if he is thinking (meaning there are many different ways of displaying problems and the suitable must be chosen).
The fettered man out of the screen symbolizes man fettered with human problems waiting for the man with scissors (documentary film) to cut off the ropes.

There is a beloved contrast between:
1- The sharp background (black film strip) and the UNDFF title (in the full version) and on the other side.
2 - The rough sketch drawing way and the (Stories from the Field) title font.

These all elements are put in a balanced composition so that it can deliver its message in a good way.
