Touching Stories

by Michael Bevivino
Co-authors:

The documentaries featured in ‘STORIES from the Field’ are more than just filmed with the lens of a camera and more than just pictures on a screen. They are stories – told with the touch of the human hand. With the gesture of a pair of hands framing its subject, this logo seeks to illustrate that connection between filmmaker and subject and the true nature of storytelling itself. In addition, the hands joining as one symbolize a main goal of the event: bringing people together to focus on stories of humanitarian and human rights issues across the globe.

On a physical scale, the hands can be used to frame everything from a heart on an attendee’s shirt, scenes from the films, and especially the festival’s title – focusing on the word ‘STORIES’. The text below the main title can be the festival’s subtitle or it can be substituted with alternative text or instructions.

Finally, the festival’s title is rendered in green to represent the earth, and to inspire the audience with notions of rebirth, renewal, and growth.
