Capsule House

The Capsule House is designed as prefabricated modular units that are ready for order and assembly as a temporary housing solution for the disaster stricken. They are initially intended as emergency medical stations but can easily be given over to those who have lost their homes. Their standardized (ball and socket joint) connection system allows for easy “plug + play” application and units can be added or subtracted as needed. They are made of light weight polycarbonate injected into molds and mass produced. There is a preset series of 10’x10’x10’ molds from which modules can be produced, thus minimizing waste and maximizing configuration opportunity. Once formed into modules, the pre-packed units are transported on flatbed trucks to their destination and assembled with minimal effort. Electricity is supplied via “battery packs” and photovoltaic window glazing that allows assembled units to operate off the grid. High pressure sanitation facilitates ease of transition between users. At the end of their life span, these modules can be easily recycled and reused.
