BALAD is a game that stimulates child imagination and creativity through three elements: a translucent box, a light and a system of lenses.
Designed for children from 5 to 8 years old, BALADE can be used by day or night, acting as a game/creation box and a night light.
Based on the fact that children of these age are usually scared of darkness, BALAD allows the children to create their own settings that will then shine in the dark at night, leading to all sorts of story inventions…
In this way children reassure themselves through their own creativity, stimulated by the need to overcome their fear of darkness.
BALAD develops the children's imaginary personal universe thanks to the lenses creating a wide angle vision of the inside of the box. A little box outside becomes a big room inside, enabling children to invent a little theatre of their own that they can carry along, play with and change any time they want.
BALAD also:
Satisfies the need for gratification from the adult as children are able to display their day-to-day progress.
Improves the child's cognitive knowledge of light, shapes, shades and dimensions.
Stimulates children's curiosity ( how a drawn/object changes size when seen inside the box; how different shapes create different shades..).
Every child will decide on how to interact with BALAD, using pre-cut papers, colour pencils, modelling material all included, or anything else, depending on the creativity of the little users.

An Afocal Optical System that creates a wide angle effect, as in the entrance door spy-holes.
Finally, BALAD will have a second life as a lamp/container once the children will be tired to play with it.
