Japan Earthquake Relief: “I’m with you!”message greeting cards

Competition Brief

Competition theme

Design a series of greeting cards to express the sentiment of “I’m with you!” – a more personal and direct version of “Our thoughts are with you” to help people in the disaster areas in Japan.

Competition Brief

Japan has been struck by a disaster of unimaginable scale – earthquake and tsunami in the Northeast Pacific area. An estimated 27,000 have been killed or missing as of March 24. 240,000 people lost their homes and are forced to live in shelters. It will be a long road to recovery.

What you can do is to help deliver the message “ I’m with you!” which will mean a lot to the victims right now and for many more months and years to come. We ask you to put your creative mind to work and present your own interpretation of the message.

We call for greeting card designs that convey support, love, hope, solidarity, connectedness, dream, future and other positive thoughts that bring the world together in times like this.

Competition Description

This competition asks you to design greeting cards.

Even in this Internet era, people still appreciate receiving handwritten cards, as they add an extra depth of caring.

The cards you design will express the massage of “I’m with you!” (with or without the exclamation mark). Your designs may or may not actually incorporate those words.

Design focus should be the expression of “support, love, hope, solidarity, connectedness, dream, future and other positive thoughts” that are universal and timeless, and not specifically focused on Japan Earthquake. Our hope is that many people will be able to use these cards for many different occasions for a long time.

Design could be a drawing, a painting, a photo, 3D works (show in photo), graphic treatment of words, etc.

Your artwork should fit either horizontally or vertically into a standard card size of 4”×6” or approximately 10cm x 15cm. It may be applicable to other related products such as e-cards.

You may submit up to 6 images, if you design a series, or want to show variations under one concept.

Please include up to 400-word description of your design. Entries that direct users away from the DESIGN21 website will be disqualified. See "How To Enter" Rules for full details on file type, size and number constraints and recommendations.

The winning designs will be introduced by Felissimo, crediting the designer. It will be produced as quickly as possible and sold by Felissimo. The Most Popular from public voting will receive recognition on the website, with no monetary prize.
