BUILD THE WORLD: A Construction Toy for Every Child

Megastructure came to rescue architecture in time of confusion. As a concept they put forward an over all solution to urban planning and architecture, which is beyond personal style and flexible in reacting upon unpredictable social, financial and environmental conditions.
Megastructure ═ Space frame ═ Platonic Solids
Multi dimensional bodies made out of faces, vertices and edges are complex geometrical notion to communicate. As a child I often failed math, and find my self enrolling in Master of architecture program with out knowing basics in geometry.
Graduation thesis → Interactive installation
In my graduation project, entitled Vertical Kibbutz, I used principles of megastructure and tessellation in seek to materialize variations in the collective form. In summer 2008 London Festival of Architecture, selected Vertical Kibbutz to be exhibited among many more architectural products and studies. For that exhibition I developed, together with FabLab in The Hague, a fold/ unfold construction system made out of paper, with which visitors were asked to build a model for a collective high-rise.
A Construction Toy for Every Child
BUILD THE WORLD principle tool is a paper lattice, to be fold into three dimensional polyhedral packs. The pack is closing with paper joints, which are integrated, as the instructions, in the lattice itself. The lattice is a vector based drawing that can be manufactures with laser engraver, industrial cutting tool in an offset print shop or with a cutting knife at home.
BUILD THE WORLD comprise of re-usable building blocks made-out of A4 & A3 sized print tests collected from print shops = waste material. The A4 format makes the information accessible via fax, copy machine, magazine and any similar various formats of print industry. From each paper sheet three games produced:
Toy is a play for geometrically challenged people = Lattice
Dust* is a creative puzzeling in randomness = Triangles cut-out from the lattice
Frame, which is an edge to store your special moments = Perimeter around the lattice
BUILD THE WORLD is under small production now in Drukkerij de Maasstad, Rotterdam. The
Prototypes are available in Triennale Milan bookshop, NAI Rotterdam and second hotel gallery, Seoul. To produce small sets of Toys in a printing shop is exclusive, while a large order can reduce the price per one unit and make it accessible for all. Let everyone BUILD THE WORLD is looking for NGO’s
