Competition Details

2010, International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures

by Kinga Dybek

Multicolored strokes that symbolize the variety of cultures coexisting in the world compose into an image of two faces turned in opposite directions. This structure emphasizes their social, mental, spiritual and linguistic diversity as well as variety of values and needs represented by them. Those different cultures, even though often very distant from each other and facing different directions, when based on tolerance, may be able to open a door to dialogue. This dialogue causes mutual understanding, enables them to get closer to each other as well as complement each other and eventually may lead to the creation of a new quality - a single face, shared by the two... It is a symbol of mutual respect and acceptance, unity and strength. The new face of the contemporary world.
