Culture Counts: UNESCO poster competition

It was my intention for the poster to instigate action, not only awareness [of 2010 being the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures]. Dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation are all attainable through active conversation and discussion. This is the point of the poster: The year 2010 is a blank annotation to be filled by us.

The copy suggests action by the individual, which makes the task seem feasible for everyone, everywhere. The only colored element in the poster is the blank annotation, which conveys the richness that exudes from dialogue. The rest of the poster remains black and white to emphasize the lackluster that exists without communication and diversity. The poster is directed toward a younger demographic.
