Culture Counts: UNESCO poster competition

This poster design for the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures was inspired primarily by the word harmony. I chose harmony because it gives a sense of peacefulness and can be used as a demonstration of rapprochement. In this poster I wanted the main focus to be the letters that make up harmony. I have different hands that are positioning the letters to make one word. This symbolizes how different people can come together with different pieces to make one understanding. Each letter is like the magnet letters kids had to play and make words on a refrigerator. We all know that a child’s compassion for others is deep. Children would always play together no matter what. Using letters that resemble the refrigerator letters, brings us back to being kids and when we were friends with everybody. These hands are now coming together to make one word, harmony.
