Understanding and connecting the world cultures

by Navina Chhabria

To depict rapprochement of cultures, I wanted to do something in layers, connected, handmade and organic. I chose an earthy colored cross stitch material as the base. On it, I cut circles out of felt material, in neutrals and colors closely found in nature, and stitched them in layers and connected them with embroidery thread. The stitches used are cross stitch and running stitch to represent the spirit of the theme of connection.

I believe that there is always something more than what meets the eye and that each culture is a world on its own. There is always something to be learnt and we need to reach out and get a better understanding of these worlds.
