Culture Counts: UNESCO poster competition

the color of our shadows

by onethree

The initial concept for this piece is simple. Everyone I know, from any heritage, learned to play a simple game using simply their hands and a light source: creating a shadow puppet. No matter who is playing this game, our shadows are all the same. No matter the color of our skins.

I have illustrated a graphic of two interlaced hands that form a shape of a bird flying freely and upward on the poster.

This graphic is meant to signify the unity of all cultures as well as the significance of collaborating together and learning about one-another to reach greater heights.
The layered silhouettes of the hands reiterate this thought abstractly.
