This entry hones in on the idea of protection—“safeguarding the essential polyphony of cultural diversity”. It is drawn from the simple metaphor of protection from the rain. If unrestrained, and under the right conditions, rain can dissolve, or even erode unprotected elements on which it falls. By this extended metaphor, the umbrella in the logo is readily identified as an instrument which provides protection. It hovers over six equally sized, but uniquely colored blocks—suggesting their equality while also acknowledging their individuality. Here, the six colorful blocks represent the media of cultural expressions to be showcased during the festival—Music, Dance, Calligraphy, Photography, Art and Crafts
