Silhouette

The silhouette is a strong symbol of mankind. What is missing and almost unrecognisable in imagery within a silhouette, however, is the relationship of sex, race and religion. I felt that this was an important factor in representing cultural diversity as it does not limit the appeal.

With the varied festival events including film, art and crafts, music and dance, I felt the graphics of a build up of separate coloured lines was suitable. This acknowledges the different art forms and their individual nature, while making up a coherent image together.

The colours also characterise the range of activities and people involved, representing the cultural aspects of the festival and diversity of the talents of the performers and artists involved.

The logo is versatile in terms of graphical opportunities and the individual lines can be stretched and incorporated into different elements of the posters, programmes, flyers etc.
