the shape and the colour of diversity

the logo uses basic geometric shapes to create a simple graphic analogy for diversity, and spoken in a visual language that is accessible to all.

the overall circle shape can be seen to represent the globe, and the equal partitioning of the circle is reminiscent of a pie graph - in this case one with all sections being equal. the shapes are individual, differing, and belonging to separate groups, while remaining part of a whole, and in some cases joined to create new shapes - much like cultures.

neutral colours are used, whilst possibly having links to the sun, earth and water - all important to humanity. the colours relate to each other well and can be used variously, for different sections of the festival, or a single colour chosen.

the graphic is strong, distinctive and recognisable, whilst holding no obvious associations to a particular culture, and the use of different elements together, subtly, but instantly, creates a reference to diversity.

bold, simple, vernacular type is used to communicate the title of the festival clearly, and at a range of sizes. an option has also been provided for the use of a date in the logo if desired.
