LANGUAGES MATTER! A UNESCO poster competition

Interwoven Hope

by bluesea

Language is a bridge, not a barrier. It ties us together more than we know. Exploring our languages lets us discover how interwoven we are.

The poster is a simple background of woven cloth, with a weave of common words for "Mother" running down the page, evoking how inherently connected to to one another from the very beginning of life. The text of the different words for "February" below the date follows a similar graphic cue.

The simple flowering structure with buds represents the strength, work, and hope needed to attain the six Education For All, goals and the Millennium Development Goals, to promote cultural diversity, to fight illiteracy, to put in place quality education, to fight for greater social inclusion and economic development, and to safeguard indigenous knowledge.
