Rational on my
International Mother Language poster design for UNESCO 2009

My idea of a typical saying;
“Burning the mid-night oil…”
signifies learning.

The image is meant to be dynamic and thus have an instant impact on the beholder.
This concept is a collage of a couple of images
embedded in a film strip that wraps around a typical pot, round the world map, mixed with a basket weave and
a lit candle encompassing traditions and expressions.

It signifies communication through film, social integration, and education.

Also reinforcing this concept are letters falling off the globe onto the surface beneath… what visually looks like languages being lost and Cultural diversity, fading.

It’s imperative that we preserve our languages as
it is the heritage of humanity.
