This poster was developed from the concept that languages can be viewed as living things – growing, changing, and connecting us all. Languages are the foundation of cultures around the world, foundations reaching deep into the earth.

The size of the leaves, formed from the names of almost 200 world languages, was determined by the size of the population who speaks each language. There are five different groups of languages, corresponding to five different sizes of leaves.

I used a combination of hand-drawn illustration and typography to bring about my vision for this poster, and worked in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
