Languages must be spoken to live and protected to survive. That is the inspiration behind this poster.

I see languages as feminine which is why this design invokes both an image of a mouth and a womb. It is through the mouth where speech comes to life and it is within the womb where the languages of the world are protected and allowed to grow and thrive.

It is encased within this duality that the voices of the world mature. All the particulars of each language are equally important and are thus represented by the segments of the enclosed globe. Here each unique voice is protected and given a mouth and therefore a voice to the wider world.

The red color invokes potency, passion and action. With such serious threats each day to the various languages of the world now is not a time for half measures or for pale arguments. It is time to be bold. Each language has its own strength and the mouth, red with the fire of belief and courage, is the instrument to bring such cadence to the words.

The blue color represents the serenity of the entire globe, at one with each unique culture and in harmony with so many various voices. It is simple and true: a reflection of a world in which each voice has its place and each language its celebration.

The design is deliberately simple which, when allied with primary colors, allows it to be used in a variety of forms without losing its powerful and effective message.
