The first language, also known as mother tongue, is fist learned in childhood at home, most of the times with the mother’s help.
This design takes the word Mother as main element, considering the important role mothers play in learning the first –or mother– language, and the fact that, a child achieves an important milestone when learns to say Mother as one of the fist words to communicate.
The design presents a toddler expressing her fist word “Mother”. Also represented, the diverse ways Mother is expressed in different languages, creating a “word cloud” or weighted list. These words were “weighted” by the number of times the same word is used in different countries/languages throughout the world.
